About Richard Reid

Psychologist, Executive Coach, Author and Former Chief People Officer

For over 20 years, I’ve been fascinated by one question: Why do some leaders thrive under pressure while others become stuck in self-limiting thought patterns that hold them back?

My varied career journey has taken me from business consultancy and C-suite leadership to psychotherapy, executive coaching, writing and international media.

Today, I combine each of these diverse experiences to help senior leaders understand how they think and what drives their decisions.

My objective is simple: to help senior executives become better leaders.

My work focuses on challenging your perceived limitations, removing obstacles, and providing the tools and support you need to perform at your best in high-stakes situations.

From Senior Consultancy to Respected Psychotherapy and Executive Coaching

My career began in business consultancy at Booz Allen Hamilton. But during a year-long trip around the world, I spent two weeks camping in Patagonia with a Welsh psychiatrist, and it changed my career trajectory.

I became fascinated by the connection between thought patterns, professional performance, and relationships.

When I returned, I retrained as a psychotherapist and coach and began a new journey.

Today I support senior executives across their work and home lives, combining my business knowledge with deep psychological work to build insight, clarity, and resilience.

I've Sat on Both Sides of the Table

I’ve supported senior leaders as a therapist, consultant, and coach – but I’ve also sat on the other side of the table as a former Chief People Officer, which means I understand the pressures you face.

I understand what it means to make decisions with consequences far beyond your own role, balance commercial priorities with employee wellbeing, and manage the weight of other people’s expectations.

My experiences shape how I work today.

Insight Before Action

Sustainable change starts with understanding the thought patterns driving your behaviour.

Instead of focusing on the immediate problem, my approach involves deep psychological work to uncover what’s happening beneath the surface.

By combining behavioural psychology with strategies to build resilience, challenge negative thought patterns, and strengthen decision-making, my clients don’t just learn to manage pressure; they become better leaders.

Because meaningful change doesn’t come from doing more, it begins with clarity.
